About the Author
Carmen Leal is the author of Faces of Huntington's, a book for and about people with Huntington's disease and others who care.
With no distribution other than the Internet and speaking engagements, this self-published book sold over 4,500 copies in the
first year. Leal is also the co-author of Pinches of Salt, Prisms of Light, a collection of writings about ordinary people doing
extraordinary things. Her stories and writings have appeared in numerous other national and local publications.
A CLASS graduate (Christian Leaders, Authors, Speakers Services), and a member of
Writers' Information Network, and
Christian Writers' Fellowship International, Leal is also a professional singer and speaker. A storyteller with a dramatic
testimony, she is a popular presenter at conventions, conferences, and church groups throughout the United States. Leal is known
for her down-to-earth style and common sense approach to dealing with life, as well as her enthusiasm and sense of humor.
In addition to her inspirational programs, she teaches workshops on topics such as, "The Internet for Writers and Speakers,"
"Marketing for Writers and Speakers," "Self-Publishing," and "Writing for Publication" at national writers' conferences, churches,
bookstores, and writers1 groups.
Prior to relocation to Florida in 1996, Leal was a marketing consultant for ten years in Hawaii, providing promotional services to
small businesses, churches, and nonprofit organizations. Leal is the mother of two teenage sons.
